The ultimate vacation getaway
Bringing people together since 1959
Hope Chest has been a vacation getaway for a New England family since 1959. It features 140 feet of private beachfront and more than an acre of land, extending from sea to the harbour. After the original two-bedroom Hope Chest cottage was destroyed in Hurricane Dorian, family members hired a local architect to design "Hope Chest 2.0."
The new Hope Chest is built in the traditional Bahamian architectural style, while preserving the intimate character and privacy of the original cottage. It can now accommodate larger groups and provide modern conveniences like high-speed Internet, a washer, dryer and dishwasher.
Many meaningful items from the original cottage were salvaged and re-used in the new cottage: the original dining table is now the coffee table; the original Abaco pine countertops were used to create custom woodwork throughout the new house; two large Abaco pine bureaus were repaired and refinished for use in first-floor bedrooms; nightside tables were updated in vibrant colors; the original HOPE CHEST sign is now displayed above the Great Room; and the beloved shell table was restored to its original beauty.
Ideal location
Hope Chest is centrally located, tucked away in a private, spacious beachfront spot. The charming Hope Town settlement, renowned harbour and dining options are just a short walk away. You can also rent a bicycle or golf cart to explore the island, or a powerboat to explore the surrounding cays; we have parking on our property. In addition, we can arrange private dock space nearby for powerboats up to 30'.
